Monday, January 20, 2020
Havana .- Cuban judokas performed very well at the continental judo competition for physically challenged athletes in Montreal, Canada.
They reaped two silvers and two bronzes, which allowed them to climb a step higher in the ladder as candidates for Tokyo Paralimpics of 2020.
Gerardo Rodríguez and Yordani Fernández came out both second, in the 81 kg and over 100 kg divisions, respectively.
Dalidaivis Rodríguez won bronze in the 70 kg division and was certified as B2 (deeply visually impaired) by the functional medical panel of judges.
The event was attended by 53 athletes from 10 countries, such as Uruguay, Puerto Rico and Jamaica.
This competition was the antepenultimate event allocating points before the classifying stage for the 2020 Tokyo Paralimpics closes in May.
