Cuba’s Pharmacy Museum to Add New Exhibits
Monday, January 20, 2020

Havana.- The Pharmacy Museum in the Central province of Matanzas –one of a kind in Cuba– has added new exhibits to its already formidable collection of decorative antiques.

The institution is now displaying several platters, plates and wine glasses that once belonged to the Triolet Figueroa family, who founded the French Dispensary.

The new items include a painting of 1915 by Angelina Solaum, former wife of Doctor Ernesto Triolet, which until recently had been kept at the local headquarters of the Union of Cuban Artists and Writers.

The French Dispensary came to life in 1882 and many years later reopened as the first Museum of its type in Latin America.

It was declared National Monument by the end of 2017 and today boasts a wide range of highly valued collectibles.
