New President of Casa de las Americas |

Havana.- The Havana-based cultural institution Casa de las Americas has a new president, Cuban outstanding intellectual Abel Prieto.
The former Minister of Culture also served as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the Jose Marti Cultural Society.
The new president is a renowned essayist, critic and novelist who will continue the work of poet Roberto Fernandez Retamar, who held that post until his death on July 20, 2019.
Founded in 1959, Casa de las Americas is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in Latin America.
It promotes, researches, sponsors, awards and publishes the works of writers, visual artists, musicians, playwrights and scholars in such fields as literature, arts and social sciences throughout the continent.
