Alternative Energy in Ciego de Avila
Monday, December 9, 2019

Havana.- Alternative energy from renewable sources is gaining ground in eastern Ciego de Avila province, thus increasing the potential of a new small photovoltaic park.

The facility has 60 installed panels of 250 watts each, which allow generating some 15 kilowatts at the time of maximum brightness of the sun.

The investment, estimated at 29,000 pesos, is recovered in six or seven years, with clean energy that does not pollute the environment.

The territory has three larger photovoltaic solar parks, which maintain production stability and have a total generation capacity of 11 megawatts.

In addition, a bioelectric plant is being built to operate with sugarcane bagasse and sickle bush. The project is at 80 percent of its execution.
