Cuba Promotes Intensive Shrimp Farming
Monday, December 9, 2019

Havana.- Cultisur, a company based in the eastern province of Camagüey, promotes intensive shrimp farming in order to meet the growing demand from the international market.

In that regard, investments have been made with a view to improving the necessary infrastructure to increase production.

Works have included the repair of the dividing dikes and the electrification of 36 hectares, together with the upcoming installation of aerators to oxygenate the water in the ponds.

The objective is to increase the density of sowing, from 10 to 100 animals per hectare, with the consequent increase in yields.

The main destinations for Cultisur exports are the domestic market and the Caribex and Pesca Caribe companies, which place the product in the international market.
