Havana.- The Alcoholes Finos Plus S.A. (ALFICSA) distillery, located in the central Cuban province of Cienfuegos, was officially inaugurated after completing the start-up stage.
The plant, the largest of its kind in the country, has already produced 3.3 million liters of alcohol in the start-up phase.
ALFICSA Plus S.A. is operated by a joint venture made up of capital contributed by the AzCuba Sugar Group and a Spanish company.
Among the technological advantages of the new plant is the use of Cuban crude oil to generate steam, thus reducing production costs.
The distillery uses the honey obtained from the manufacture of the sugar as its main raw material, while the waste that results from the distillation process is used by torula plants.
