Former Cuban Athlete Excels in Arbitration
Monday, December 9, 2019

Havana.- Former Cuban athlete Odalys Hernandez Venet, Central American and Caribbean 4x400 champion in 1986, stands out for her work as a referee.

Hernandez said that in order to assume this task, it is necessary to study, master the rules in detail and respect the trade and competitors.

In her sports activities, she was a member of the relay team that won the gold medal in the 4x400 in the Central American Games held in the Dominican Republic, together with Esther Petiton, Nery McKeen and Ana Fidelia Quirot.

Hernandez, who is the deputy director of the Havana-based Combinado Deportivo de la Ciudad Deportiva, recalled that she started training in athletics at the age of 10 and now she continues to be linked to that sport as a referee.

Her next challenge is to become an international referee, a position that requires a precise command of the rules, and mastering the English language and technology.
