Cuban Sport Strengthens Anti-doping Combat
Monday, December 9, 2019

Havana.- Cuban sports authorities have strengthened the combat against doping, supported by a specialized laboratory that operates in the country.

Havana's Anti-Doping Laboratory is expected to close operations in 2019 with some 5,000 tests on athletes from 10 countries.

From January to November 2019, the Cuban lab received samples from Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Panama, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua and Mexico, among other nations.

Particularly noteworthy is the case of Mexico, which requested some 1,300 tests in October and November this year, including a large part from its national and professional leagues.

In addition, the studies of Mexico's 150 Olympic athletes will also be carried out in Havana in 2020.
