Havana.- The traditional Tinajon Festival, which takes place in the eastern Cuban province of Camagüey, will bring together diverse proposals from the national culture as a tribute to musician Adalbeto Alvarez.
The specialized meeting consists of theoretical events on local artistic expressions.
The event will present proposals from performing and plastic arts, organized by the Provincial Music Center and the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists.
The objective of the Tinajon Festival is to exhibit the cultural and historic values and traditions of the city of Camagüey, whose historic center has been declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
On the other hand, the tinajon (a large earthenware jar) is one of the characteristic elements of the province, where one of the first villas founded by the Spanish conquistadors in Cuba, Santa Maria del Puerto del Principe, was located.
