Cuban Chess Players Stand Out in Continental Competition

Havana.- The Cuban female players who competed in the Continental Chess Championships, held in the Mexican city of Aguascalientes, finished in the second and third places.

Canada's Maili-Jade Ouellet was the champion, in addition to winning the only slot for the World Championships in dispute.

Ouellet won 6.5 of 9 points and scored 145 units for her Elo coefficient, competing for an average of 2,472 points.

Meanwhile, Cuban player Yoana Gonzalez was second with the six points, preceding her compatriot Lisandra Ordaz.

The other Cuban players, including Yaniela Forgas, Oleiny Linares, Maritza Arribas and Yerisbel Miranda, all of them with 5.5 points, occupied the places from the fifth to the eighth.
