Cuban Posters Exhibited in Europe
Monday, December 2, 2019

Havana.- London, the capital of the United Kingdom, is hosting an exhibition of Cuban posters from the so-called cold war era at the House of Illustration.

The collection consists of 115 posters and 73 Tricontinental magazines produced by the Organization of Solidarity of the Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America (OSPAAAL) in the 1960s and 1970s.

Owned by British collector Mike Stanfield, the exhibition includes the work Dia del Guerrillero Heroico (Day of the Heroic Guerrilla Fighter), a tribute by designer Helena Serrano to Argentine-Cuban Commander Ernesto Che Guevara in 1968.

Other works are Cristo Guerrillero (1969) by Alfredo Rostgaard, in memory of Colombian priest and guerrilla fighter Camilo Torres, together with posters alluding to the US war in Vietnam.

Add to this the solidarity campaign with US activist Angela Davis and the struggle of the Black Panthers, among other topics of interest.
