Cuban Economy Bets on Tourism
Monday, November 11, 2019

Havana.- Cuban authorities are prioritizing the development of the tourism sector, due to the importance of this activity for the national economy.

The long-term strategy envisages reaching 155,000 hotel rooms over the next ten years, with a total investment of near 18 billion dollars.

It is worth mentioning that until October 2019, Cuba had some 380 hotels, with a potential of more than 72,000 rooms.

The activity is in the hands of four national chains, including Islazul, Cubanacan, Gran Caribe and Gaviota.

In addition, foreign participation involves 19 foreign companies that run 119 four- and five-star hotels in Cuba, as well as six luxury establishments.
