Peak Tourism Season Opens in Eastern Cuba
Monday, November 4, 2019

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Holguin welcomed the first international holidaymakers, marking the beginning of the peak tourist season.

The arrival of the first flight of the Canadian airline WestJet this winter, with 170 passengers, marks the activation of the abovementioned period, during which there is an increase in the number of international travelers to Cuba.

WestJet will operate two weekly flights, on Monday and Saturday, from November to April.

Authorities from the sector pointed out that in addition to the Canadian company, the Russian tour operator Pegas Touristik is also operating a direct flight to that Cuban province.

In general, Holguin's airport receives 40 to 45 weekly flights, but that number increases to some 70 during the peak tourist season.
