Cuba Administers Vaccine against Breast Cancer
Monday, November 4, 2019

Havana.- Specialists from the eastern Cuban province of Ciego de Avila are administering the Trastuzumab vaccine against breast cancer.

The product has been administered with good results every month to eight patients at the oncology service of the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital.

This vaccine consists of a hormonal therapy for patients who have the HER2 positive receptor in their cells, which is inhibited with the appropriate doses of the medication.

Together with this, other monoclonal antibodies such as Tamoxifen, Letrosol and Zoladex are used in the treatments, in addition to chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions.

One of the most common types of breast cancer is ductal carcinoma, although experts reported the presence of lymphomas and sarcomas, which are very aggressive and rare.
