Cuba Receives Floating Dock for Naval Repairs
Monday, November 4, 2019

Havana.- Cuba has incorporated into its maritime services a modern floating dock that can receive ships of up to 65,000 tons of displacement.

The floating structure was made in 18 months in China and was transported to Cuba in the world's second largest submersible ship during a 52-day voyage through the Indian and Atlantic oceans, and the Caribbean Sea.

With this acquisition, the Cuban naval industry will be able to assimilate the repair of bulk and Panamax vessels.

The floating dock is the most modern in the country, because it is equipped with a new state-of-the-art system with tactile monitors that can control the processes that are carried out during the maintenance of vessels.

With 240 meters in length and 48 meters in width, the floating dock is certified by the Chinese manufacturers for an exploitation period of at least 30 years.
