Work of Cuban Historian Acknowledged in Italy
Monday, October 14, 2019

Havana.- Havana Historian Eusebio Leal was awarded in Italy with the Rotondi Prize that is usually granted to art saviors.

When explaining the award, Leal's work in the rehabilitation of the capital and the preservation of the heritage of the Cuban nation was mentioned.

Cuban Ambassador to Italy Jose Carlos Rodriguez Ruiz was in charge of receiving the Rotondi Award from Undersecretary of State for Economic Development of Italy Alessia Morani.

The Rotondi Award was named after the Superintendent for the Fine Arts of Urbino, Pasquale Rotondi, who coordinated "Operation Salvage".

Through this, thousands of artistic works were hidden, including The Giorgione Tempest and The Ideal City, among many others by artists such as Raffaello Sanzio, Piero della Francesca, Titian, Paolo Uccello or Andrea Mantengna.
