Summer Cinema in Cuba
Monday, September 9, 2019

Havana.- More than 250 motion pictures from two dozen countries were screened in theaters throughout the country during the 2019 Summer Film Festival.

The initiative, created 15 years ago, consisted of a varied program in all provinces, including 78 premieres and 42 theme cycles based on genres, moviemakers and protagonists.

According to promoters, events were dedicated to historical and biographical cinema, famous musicals, children's films, 3D batches (three-dimensional technology) and exhibitions dedicated to Charles Chaplin.

Together with this, literary adaptations, a series of works about sports and a group of audiovisuals directed by women, including Nobody Wants the Night, by Spanish filmmaker Isabel Coixet, were included.

This option arises as an ideal complement to the summer season, a period that coincides with school holidays in Cuba.
