Rehabilitation of Havana Capitol Advances
Monday, September 9, 2019

Havana.- The rehabilitation process of the emblematic Havana Capitol has shown progress after its dome was revealed after six years of work.

The 16 petals that make up that piece show gold plating made by specialists from Russia, who dominate the art of gold metal.

Previously, a careful restoration work was carried out, even with the placement of copper plates that replaced pieces of that material that were damaged.

In coincidence with the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the city, the dome lantern and the so-called scintillator will also light up.

The National Capitol of Cuba was built under the direction of architect Eugenio Raynieri Piedra and was inaugurated in 1929, at a cost close to 17 million dollars.
