Electricity from Waste in Western Cuba
Monday, August 19, 2019

Havana.- The western province of Pinar del Rio will benefit from the services of a plant that will use industrial wastes to generate power.

In this case, the plant will use the wastes from rice processing and will save about 200 tons of diesel every year.

The technology will convert the rice husk into a combustible gas, with which rice is dried and electricity is generated to reduce fuel consumption in the industry.

In one work day, the plant would generate 2.4 megawatts per hour, with which part of the demand is met and the rest can be sent to the National Power System.

According to experts, the first objective is to replace the diesel used in the drying process, in addition to minimizing the environmental impact of the waste.
