Havana.- Cuba finished in the fifth position by countries at the 18th edition of the Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru.

The Cuban athletes won 33 gold, 27 silver and 38 bronze medals, totaling 98 medals, with three fewer titles compared to the 2015 event held in Toronto, Canada.

The titles were contributed this time by boxing (eight), wrestling (five), athletics (five), judo (five), shooting (four), rowing (two), boating (two), cycling (one) and fencing (one).

In that regard, combat sports had their relevance for Cuba, together with the outstanding role of young track and field athletes.
