Desalination Plant Ready in Eastern Cuba
Monday, August 12, 2019

Havana.- Punta de Maisi, Cuba's easternmost tip, will have the services of a desalination plant that will guarantee the supply of drinking water.

The facility resulted from a donation from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) with Russian capital.

Works currently focus on the socio-administrative building, the security checkpoint, perimeter fence and internal access roads.

Subsequently, the technological assembly will be carried out, with the installation of four pumps to transfer drinking water to the distribution tank and the brine to the infiltration wells.

The plant, the first of its kind to be installed in Guantanamo, has the capacity to produce 12 cubic meters of drinking water per hour, enough to meet the demand from more than 1,700 inhabitants in Punta de Maisi.
