Surprise Victory by Cuban Athlete at Lima-2019
Monday, August 12, 2019

Havana.- Cuban athlete Adriana Rodriguez was the surprise in the heptathlon contest at the Pan American Games in Lima-2019, when she won the gold medal.

The title came with 6,113 points, the highest mark in her life, after getting the best scores in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter races, and the long jump contest.

Cuban experts' predictions had focused on Yorgelis Rodriguez, but she was eliminated in one of the rounds so the priorities of the competitions changed to Rodriguez, who gave the best performance of her life and scored 6,113 points, leaving behind Annie Kunz (5,990 points), from the United States, and Martha Araujo (5,925 from Colombia).

This modality of athletics consists of competitions in shot-put, 800 meters, 100-meter hurdles, high and long jump, 200 meters and javelin.
