Havana.- The Cuban capital will host the Women's Epee World Cup in January, to be held at the the Ciudad Deportiva coliseum.
Cuban sports officials pointed out that the event will be an excellent opportunity for training for local fencers.
In addition, the event will grant points for the world ranking and will allow Cubans to improve their position in that list with a view to the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru.
Cuba has already qualified for the regional games in women's foil and men's saber.
The annual agenda also includes the Pan-American Fencing Championship in the Canadian city of Toronto, an event that will grant points for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, in 2020.
