Cuban Families: Crucial in Health Care System
Monday, April 17, 2017

Havana.- Health indicators in Cuba highlight the role of the family as a key element in the behavior of infant mortality.

According to official data, Cuba maintained an infant mortality rate of less than five per thousand live births, while the maternal rate was 39 per 100,000 live births.

This result recognizes community participation and changes in the health system, coupled with greater responsibility for families.

It is also essential that couples know that pregnancies must be planned, as they have the right to choose the moment, how many children to have and the frequency.

Coupled with this, they must be evaluated prior to that pregnancy from a biological, social, environmental, psychological point of view and be able to identify whether or not there are risks.
