Quality Endorsed at Cuban Biotechnology Center
Monday, March 19, 2012

Havana.- The Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB in Spanish), located in Havana, was given the international quality certification ISO 9001-2008.

The institution was certified by the Cuban National Office for Standardization (ONN in Spanish) and the Spanish Agency for Standardization (AENOR in Spanish); and it is valid for three years.

According to specialists, the certification includes the systems of quality management for all research, development and production areas, among others.

Likewise, the renewal of the ISO 9001-2008 gives recognition to the institution as a center of national and international reference for adequate laboratory and production practices.

This institution is involved in the research and development of several vaccines, some of them aimed at treating some types of cancer.
