London.- The world's tourism industry moved 642 million travelers during the first eight months of 2010, accounting for a 7-percent growth compared to last year.
According to the World Tourism Organization, 220 million vacationers were reported during the summer season (July-August) in the northern hemisphere.
Experts predicted an annual growth of 6 percent this year, even exceeding results in 2008.
All regions in the world have reported growth in the tourism industry, but the emerging economies continue to lead that growth with 8 percent in August.
The largest increase in tourists was reported in Asia (14 percent), Middle East (16 percent), Africa (9 percent), the Americas (8 percent) and Europe (3 percent).
