Cuba to Host World Forum on Esperanto
Monday, June 28, 2010

Havana.- Cuba will host the 95th Universal Congress on Esperanto and the 66th World Youth Meeting on that language in late July.

The meetings will be held at Havana's Convention Center, where participants from 60 countries will hold debates on Esperanto.

In addition to the aforementioned meetings, the 43rd International Conference of Esperanto Professors will be held. All meetings are sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Cuban Association of Esperanto (KEA).

Esperanto is a universal language created in 1887 by Polish expert Luis Zamenhof with the goal of fostering communication and solidarity among different ethnical groups and peoples.

Since the early 20th century, Esperanto has been present in Cuba, where the KEA was founded in 1979. The KEA is a member of the Universal Association of Esperanto (UEA).
