Monday, May 21, 2007

Havana.- The Cuban men's volleyball team is training in Bulgaria, where they will participate in the tough World League.

The Cubans will play three games against the Bulgarians, who were the bronze medalists at the 2006 World Championship and finished fourth at last year's World League.

Cuba will compete with a 13-strong team headed by rookies Raidel Hierrezuelo (passer), Rolando Jurquín and Pedro Iznaga (auxiliary attackers) and sweeper Keibel Gutiérrez.

The other team members are Pavel Pimienta, Odelvis Dominico, Robertlandi Simón, Maikel Sánchez, Raidel Poey, Raidel Corrales, Yoandri Díaz, Oriol Camejo and Yasser Portuondo.

On this occasion, Cuba will play in Group C, which also includes Egypt, Russia and Serbia.

The Caribbean Island will compete with one of the youngest teams in the tournament, whose average age is under 23 years.
