Tourist Options for Senior Citizens in Havana
Monday, September 5, 2005

Havana.- The Cuban capital, the main tourist destination in the Caribbean Island, has created new options to boost leisure programs for senior citizens.

That is the goal of the company Habaguanex S.A., which runs tourist businesses in Old Havana, which was declared World Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The group plans to restore the former Convent of Our Lady of Bethlehem to turn the building into a residence and hotel for senior citizens. The establishment will be the first such facility in Cuba.

The reconstruction projects are aimed at equipping the building with all the amenities and comfort that characterize the hotels runs by Habaguanex S.A.

The senior citizens will stay on the ground floor of the Convent of Our Lady of Bethlehem, where all architectural barriers will be removed, and conditions will be created to receive guests for a 15-day period.
