Cuba: Value Added Tourism

Cuba, a fast-growing tourist destination in the Caribbean, offers excellent sun and beach options that are complemented by its culture, cuisine and nature.

Excellent beaches of white fine sand and crystal-clear water attract thousands of foreign visitors every year.

Fusions of races and customs in a centuries-old process gave way to Cuban culture, which is made up of African, aboriginal, Chinese, French and, of course, Spanish elements, creating a unique and rich combination at the same time.

Among the most important events held in Cuba is the International Book Fair of Havana, which takes place every year at the Morro-Cabaña historic-military park.

The fair is also held in a dozen Cuban cities, where books on a wide range of topics are available to readers of all ages.

Cities with a well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture, hotels linked to plastic arts, patrimonial sites and a busy schedule of celebrations and festivities make up Cuba's tourist offer.

One of those places is the Cuban capital. Havana was founded on its current location in 1519, and many of its buildings have survived the passage of time and can be admired today.

Cuba's cultural programs consist of meetings, workshops, festivals, congresses and specialized courses, which are held all year around.

Other major cultural events held in Cuba are the annual meeting of Ballet Academies, the festivals La Huella de España, Boleros de Oro and Cubadisco, the Ibero-American Cultural Festival and the international festival Jazz Plaza, as well as the Fire Festival in Santiago de Cuba.

All these events provide authenticity, professionalism and frankness to foreign tourists interested in learning about Cuba's culture and traditions.

Cuba has about 120 art galleries, antique shops and art exhibition halls, in addition to nearly 260 museums and more than 80 theaters, which are excellent options for those looking for more than beach and sun in the Caribbean Island.

The wide range of cultural options in Cuba, in addition to its history and traditions, are key elements in the Caribbean island's tourist product and one of its main attractions for foreign vacationers.
