Mexico: A Powerhouse in World Tourism

Mexico, one of America's major tourist destinations, is striving to be among the greats in the tourism industry at international level and hosted the World Tourism Exhibition this month.

The event, which experts compared to Madrid's FITUR, Berlin's ITB, Milan's BIT, Moscow's MITT and London's WTM, was held from September 24-27 at the Banamex Center, in the Federal District, and turned the country into a platform for world tourism.

Over 26,000 visitors attended the World Tourism Exhibition, considered a showcase for thousands of travelers who spend their vacations in major destinations in Mexico, Central America and South America.

This way, the World Tourism Exhibition was included in the select calendar of international events of the World Tourism Organization, placing Mexico in a hotspot for all tourism powerhouses.

Some 325 companies exhibited their products in an area of 16,000 square meters, a true mixture of companies, including airlines, hotel chains, land transport companies, cruises, entertainment firms, amusement and theme parks, independent tour operators, specialized publications and institutions.

Other participants were tourism service providers, shared-time companies, firms operating in the technological and gastronomical sectors, specialized and cultural groups, and organizations, among others.

The event's program consisted of workshops and master lectures on the excellence of world tourism, Latin America's vision and the relationship between tour operators and travel agencies, among other topics.

The region's attractions were shown in several theme festivals, including those dedicated to the Maya World, Cuba, Tlaxcala's carnival and Guerrero's music.

Among the firms participating in the World Exhibition was Vacacionar Travel S.A., which was founded in 1999 and operates as a travel agency with associated tour operators all over the world who have specialized in promoting travels to Cuba and the Caribbean.

Precisely, multi-destination trips are one of Vacacionar Travel's main offers. The company provides its clients with hotel reservations, vacation packages, car rental, and airline tickets, among other options, when they visit the firm's website at www.vacacionartravel.com.

Vacacionar Travel's offers also include a wide range of accommodation facilities, recreation, cultural events, business opportunities and nature tourism, among others.

Taking advantage of the development of informatics, Vacacionar Travel's Electronic Reservation System is considered by experts a fast, easy and effective link among tourism service providers, travel agencies and vacationers, easily allowing them to consult tariffs and availabilities, compare prices and confirm reservations on real time.
