Facilities for Tourism in Central Cuba

Cuba's central province of Villa Clara has become a must for thousands of foreign vacationers visiting the largest Antillean Island every year.

However, the rapid growth of the leisure industry, which has become one of the key sectors in the national economy over the past few years, has led Villa Clara to develop its infrastructure to boost the tourist sector.

The perfect option for nature lovers is the 125-room Hanabanilla Hotel, where they can enjoy all modern amenities demanded by today's leisure industry and, at the same time, they can be in direct contact with the region's exuberant nature.

Built on the shore of the Hanabanilla Lake, in the Escambray Mountain Range, and surrounded by beautiful and exuberant nature, the hotel offers its guests the chance to fish the largest trout in Cuban territory.

Nature lovers can also stay at Villa La Granjita, an ideal place to spend their vacations in the company of their family, due to its cozy and tranquil atmosphere, amid palm, fruit and coconut trees.

On the northern keys, the 24-cabin Villa Las Brujas, on the islet of the same name, is complemented by a 2-km-long sandy beach and the services of an air terminal that can receive small- and medium-size planes.

The construction of a causeway over the sea incorporated Cayo Santa María (13 km long and 2 km wide) into the region's tourist activity, due to its potentialities for diving and the practice of nautical sports.

Travelers can stay at the Sol Cayo Santa María Hotel, run by the Spanish group Sol Meliá. The hotel has 300 rooms, including three wheelchair-accessible rooms for disabled people, and operates under the all-inclusive system.

The service infrastructure at the Sol Cayo Santa María Hotel includes the restaurants La Fontanella and Los Cocos, as well as La Picúa, a thatched-roof restaurant by the beach, and Los Flamencos barbeque, among other facilities.

The Mascotte Hotel is located across the Main Square of the colonial village of San Juan de los Remedios. Its architectural style combines modernity with a centuries-old ambience, in a very close relationship with local cultural institutions.

Other tourist facilities in Villa Clara are the 95-room hotel Los Caneyes, whose architectural style resembles pre-Columbian houses, and the Santa Clara Libre Hotel, one of the tallest buildings in central Cuba.

An attractive and unique option for health tourism is the Horizontes Elguea and SPA Hotel, which features over 100 rooms, tennis and volleyball courts, bicycle rentals, horse riding and table games, along with the excellent properties of a thermal center covering an area of 1,300 square meters (1,555 square yards).

Museums, cultural centers, churches, art galleries, theaters and restaurants complement Villa Clara's wide range of offers for tourism.
