Cuban Musical Documentaries in New York
Monday, September 15, 2003

Havana.- A dozen major musical documentaries made in Cuba will be shown at the Lincoln Center, in the US city of New York, this month.

According to movie critics, three parallel programs will be shown at the Walter Reade Theater as part of the series "We Are the Music: Cuban Musical Documentaries", which resulted from an excellent relation between music and cinema.

The series includes classic films such as "We Are the Music", by Rogelio París, as well as documentaries by renowned moviemakers like Juan Carlos Tabío, Fernando Pérez, Mayra Vilasís, Octavio Cortázar and Miguel Torres, among others.

In addition to the "We Are the Music" series, the feature film "Entre Ciclones" (Between Hurricanes), by the Cuban filmmaker Enrique Colina, will be presented in New York.

Other feature films to be shown are "Historias mínimas" (Minimal Stories), from Argentina, and "To the Left of the Father", from Brazil, which were presented as part of the 2003 Latin Beat program.
