Cuban Musical Group Performs in Spain
Monday, July 15, 2002

Havana.- The Cuban orchestra Van Van, one of the major exponents of Cuba's dance music, is on a successful tour of Spain this month.

As part of the program, the orchestra gave a concert at the Conde Duque Cultural Center.

Van Van has also toured the Spanish cities of Cordoba (Andalusia), Valencia and Barcelona, among others.

Parallel to the group's performances, the Argentinean-Cuban documentary film "Van Van, empezó la fiesta" (Van Van, the party began), directed by Liliana Mazurre and Aarón Vega, was shown in Spanish theaters.

The 84-minute-long film begins with a concert at Havana's Malecón, and includes over a dozen interviews with members of the orchestra.
