The Central Railroad Station was built in 1912 on the site where the former Army-yard was. This facility replaced he city’s first railroad station, called Villanueva, which was on the grounds where the National Capitol stands today. The railroad began operating in Cuba in 1837, being one of the first countries in the world to have his service. The building copies elements of he Spanish renaissance, and is the work of North American engineers. architects and contractors. |
