| This is the most valuable old building in Remedios and one of the most important ones in the country. Its enormous baroque altarpiece, carved in cedar and covered with gold plate, is one of the most beautiful in all of Hispanic America. Other attractions include an image of a pregnant Virgin Mary. The church dates from the 16th century, but various portions of it are in later styles. |
