Air Traffic Booms in Central Cuba
Monday, November 18, 2019

Havana.- The Abel Santamaria International Airport, in central Cuba, has reported an increase in operations since the beginning of the peak tourist season.

According to experts, tourist arrivals from Europe, mainly from Russia, Poland and Germany, as well as from Latin America, including Mexico and Panama, have risen recently.

It should be mentioned that holidaymakers come to that region to visit the beaches on Cayo Santa Maria, northeast of Villa Clara.

During the winter months, schedules include 70 weekly flights in November and 95 in December. They will increase to 98 in January and to more than 100 in February.

The airport can handle some 350 passengers per hour, and the staff is highly trained to undertake that task.
