Experts Assess Potential of Cuban Zeolite

Havana.- Cuban zeolite stands out among the country's exportable items, taking into account its characteristics and its wide use in various activities.

In Cuba's case, there are processing plantsin the provinces of Holguin, Matanzas and Camaguey to assimilate the so-called mineral of the century.

According to experts, zeolite has a wide use due to its properties for agriculture and construction mainly, and it is exported to several countries.

On the international market, agreements have been signed with Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Germany, which use this mineral for water purification, soil improvement, and animal and livestock feed.

The main zeolite deposits are located in Tasajera, Villa Clara, in Najasa, Camagüey, and in San Andres, Holguin. The latter with a production plan of 22,250 tons in 2019.
