Paseo de las Rocas in Havana
Monday, November 18, 2019

Havana.- The Cuban capital will have as a tribute to the five centuries of its foundation the attractions of the so-called Paseo de las Rocas (Rock Promenade), the first theme park in the country.

Located in the access to the Geology and Paleontology Institute(IGP), it consists of six important rocks from several regions of the country, each with a particular history.

The first one is a granite rock, extracted from the area of La Gran Piedra, in the Sierra Maestra mountain range, in eastern Santiago de Cuba province.

In addition, there is quarry rock from Anafe, in the municipality of Caimito, in Artemisa province, in which an Echinoderm fossil is embedded.

From western Cuba comes a serpentine rock extracted from the Cajalbana quarry, as well as a chromite rock from Camagüey and zeolite from Tasajeras, in Remedios, in Villa Clara province.
