Cuban Triathlete to Seek Olympic Slot in Tokyo

Havana.- Cuban triathlete Leslie Amat is fulfilling a training program to compete for a slot in the Olympic Games in Tokyo-2020.

In the Lima phase of the Triathlon World Cup, Amat ranked 30th among 57 competitors from the Americas, Europe and Asia, with a record of 1:00.48 hours.

On that occasion, he completed 750 meters of swimming at the Agua Dulce beach, 20 kilometers of cycling on a route with a hill and five kilometers of running on a flat and fast track.

Amat is opting for an Olympic ticket that will be granted by the organizing committee of the games to athletes from developing countries.

The agenda includes his participation in World Triathlon Cup in the Dominican Republic, and the American Triathlon Cup in Formosa, in Argentina.
