Havana.- Actions for the control of the African Giant Snail in the Cuban capital are integrated into the community strategy in favor of the population's health.
Authorities called to act in all 105 popular councils in Havana for the immediate extermination of the mollusk.
For this, traps with fruits and food will be used and its mechanical destruction will be applied, as well as incineration and the application of products such as lime.
Places with more intense vegetation, such as herbs, forests and fruit trees will be prioritized, and direct contact of people with mollusk must be avoided.
According to experts, this mollusk can produce eosinophilic meningoencephalitis, which affects the meninges due to a parasite carried by the snail.
