Discrete Rebound in Tourism in Dominican Republic
Monday, September 9, 2019

Santo Domingo.- The tourism sector in the Dominican Republic reported the arrival of 4.1 million visitors from January to July, accounting for a discrete year-on-year increase of 1.5 percent.

Official sources pointed out that in the first seven months of 2018, the arrivals of non-resident foreigners fell 0.5 percent, equivalent to 16,181 fewer tourists.

The general balance of international holidaymakers remained positive thanks to an increase in arrivals of non-resident Dominicans, which increased by 14.4 percent.

Likewise, 63.1 percent of vacationers arrived from North America, mostly from the United States and Mexico, as well as 20.9 percent from Europe.

The Central Bank reported that in 2018, tourism revenues in the Dominican Republic totaled 7.560,7 billion dollars, equivalent to 8.8 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
