Ciego de Avila Boost Canned Food Production |

Havana.- The canning industry in the eastern province of Ciego de Avila has expanded its portfolio of products, with a view to meeting the demand from the domestic market and increasing exports.
The two plants devoted to that activity produce items such as slices and segments of pineapple, guava marmalade, pizza sauce and fried tomato.
It also produces, cumin, seasons, bay leafs and oregano, which are condiments that are highly demand in the domestic stores that operate in Cuban pesos and those operating in convertible currency.
Other products to hit the market this year are mango slices, white, black and red beans, corn, chickpeas, sweet red pepper and Vita Nuova sauce.
Exports include mango and pineapple slices and segments, and concentrated juices, with the possibility of adding sweet red pepper in 2020, company executives said.
