Cuban Judokas to Compete in World Tournament in Japan

Havana.- Cuba will participate with a ten-strong team in the World Judo Championships, to be held in Tokyo, Japan.

At the event, Cuba will take four competitors to the men's contest and six judokas to the women's event, including Idalis Ortiz, who tops the world ranking in the 78-kilograms division.

Ivan Silva will compete in the 90-kilogram category, in which he was the world runner-up in Baku 2018 and finished third and second in the world and the Olympic games, respectively.

The Cuban women's delegation also includes Kaliema Antomarchi (78 kg), Onix Cortes (70 kg), Maylin del Toro (63 kg), Anailis Dorvigne (57 kg) and Vanesa Godines (48 kg).

The men's teams will include Osniel Solis (66 kg), Magdiel Estrada (73 kg) and Andy Granda (+100 kg).

In the recent Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru, the Cuban judokas won 12 medals (five gold, two silver and five bronze medals).
