Mexican Airline Weighs Fleet Expansion
Monday, August 12, 2019

Mexico.- The commercial company Aeromexico is weighing the existing options with a view to modernizing its fleet, especially the aircraft that cover short-distance flights.

According to specialists, the company must choose between the E195-E2 models by Embraer, and A220 aircraft of Airbus, with options to place an order for 60 aircraft this year.

In that regard, the E195-E2 would raise the seating capacity by about 25 percent over the current airline fleet, while the A220 would allow 35 percent more.

Aeromexico also operates Boeing 737 aircraft, including the Max model that was placed on hold in March after two fatal accidents in five months.

The modernization of the fleet also responds to the need to operate with larger equipment due to the saturation of Mexico City that prevents increased flights.
