Children's Health Improved in Eastern Cuba
Monday, July 22, 2019

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Las Tunas shows favorable results in the Mother-Child Program, with actions to benefit the quality of life of the population.

The territory reported an infant mortality rate of 3.1 deaths per 1,000 live births, and five municipalities had no deaths of children under one year of age.

In the first semester of 2019, the main causes of death were congenital malformations, preterm delivery and low weight at birth

Faced with this, measures have been taken to reduce adolescent pregnancy, which has been the cause of children with low weight at birth and complications of pregnant women.

It should be noted that the province has reported no maternal deaths, as a result of strict prevention and the immediate reaction to any abnormality.
