Improved Health Care for the Elderly in Ciego de Avila
Monday, June 24, 2019

Havana.- The healthcare system in the eastern Cuban province of Ciego de Avila has improved care for the elderly, taking into account the population aging.

It is worth mentioning that in the territory, some 84,910 people are over 60 years of age, accounting for a population aging rate of 19.4 percent.

The health strategy ensures a better quality of life and equal opportunities for senior citizens to access good conditions of hygiene, food and care.

The province has more than 400 elderly clubs, eight homes for senior citizens and 16 elderly houses, 15 of which are certified, among other facilities.

In addition, control is maintained over health problems such as cerebrovascular diseases, acute respiratory infections, heart problems and malignant tumors.
