New Treatments against Cancer in Cuba |

Havana.- The Cuban healthcare system has incorporated new treatments against several types of tumors, as part of actions to improve the quality of life of the population.
In the case of the oncologic hospital in the city of Camagüey, brachytherapy of high dose rate and superficial radiotherapy are used to treat the disease.
Used to emit direct radiation on tumors, the first of these tools has benefited 25 patients since the service started in April.
Regarding internal radiotherapy, the exposure of healthy tissues away from the sources is reduced, and its application enables a higher survival rate for patients.
In addition, the operation of a third surface radiotherapy piece of equipment to treat skin cancer is another benefit for patients.
