Improved Infrastructure in Cuban Tobacco Sector
Monday, June 24, 2019

Havana.- Authorities in western Cuban province of Pinar del Río, the country's major tobacco producer, are taking steps to improve the sector's infrastructure.

A storehouse is under construction on that territory to preserve the leaves and subsequently ship them for process.

With a capacity for 120 tons, the storehouse is the first of its kind in the province.

The facility has a metal structure and a system of windows that can prevent damage to the leaves due to the humidity caused by the circulation of hot air.

The structure is 66 meters long and 18 meters wide, and is equipped with two fumigation rooms to control the pests that attack tobacco.
