Latin American Airlines to Have Benefits
Monday, June 17, 2019

Brussels.- Latin American airlines are expected to have net profits in 2019, totaling nearly 200 million dollars.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), this prediction contrasts with the 500 million dollars in losses registered in 2018.

The average profit will be 0.50 dollar per passenger, lower than the global average of 6.12 dollars considered by IATA.

The agency reduced the joint benefit estimate of the 290 airlines that are members of IATA by 21.1 percent in 2019.

The revision responds to several factors, including a lower demand, the drop in transported cargo volumes and the general increase in operating costs.

In 2019, the total profits of the airlines are estimated at 28 billion dollars.
